What could be better….sweating like crazy in great tap classes and then jumping in the ocean to cool down…ahhhh….and all in January! At tap in Rio that is exactly what you do. The classes are hard hitting, creative and varied. Steven Harper and Adrianna Salamao are inspired educators, in that they weave the culture of Brazil into their work and they pass on an art form rich in native music. If you want to really feel a bossa or a samba….and I mean REALLY…..then you need to be at Tap in Rio. Here you can meet some of the best young teachers in Brazil and jam with GREAT musicians. This is the place to immerse yourself in Brazilian culture, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, one block from Copacabana beach. I know I had a great time. How about you? Check it out!

Tap in Rio = Tap in Paradise. An experience you will cherish forever!! The rhythmic pulse of the samba beat and the joie de vivre of the people, together, make the festival an incredibly inspiring and reinvigorating celebration. The positive energy and enthusiasm of the hosts Steven Harper and Adriana Salomão creates a beautiful sense of community for all of the students and teachers. You will enjoy challenging, musically and technically inspiring classes, taught by passionate and accomplished teachers. And then, you can take a break to savor the delicious Brazilian food on Copacabana beach, just blocks away from the studio. The Jam Session is brought to life with the sounds of Brazil and the excitement of the community. The showcase is an awesome platform to be inspired by the works of others. You will leave this festival with a new sense of musicality, more passion in your dancing, and refreshed by the beautiful landscape and culture. This is a mandatory annual event for me. I drop everything and go!! There is no better feeling than to celebrate Tap Dance with these amazing dancers in one of my favorite cities in the world! I hope to see you at Tap in Rio 2012!!!

Tap in Rio takes place under the watchful guard of the statue of Cristo Redentor , in the midst of great Carioca receptivity. A strong point, in my view, is that the numerous classes are offered by many people. Another is that many of those taking them were working Brazilians. The teacher lineup is of first class quality and the students’ enthusiastic participation is exciting.

Participating in Tap in Rio is much more than taking classes or participating in the performances. Participating in Tap in Rio means living, sharing, learning and teaching – and all of this in such a very intense and marvelous way that it is impossible for me to express it in words. Steven and Adriana, congratulations for this event ! It is, without a doubt, extremely important for the history of tap dance in this country.

I’ve had the opportunity to accompany the young talents at Tap in Rio which won scholarships for several festivals in the USA. Very well commented upon, the festival is being recognized internationally as a great showcase for young Brazilian talent. Opportunities, novelties and growth make it a integrated event for those thirsty for TAP.

The Tap in Rio Festival fills Brazil with pride. It is an absolute honor to be a part of the teachers lineup. I feel like one of the composers of the Brazilian tap dance identity, together with my colleagues. Seriousness, integrity, moral probity, friendship, education, culture, information, readings, encounters, happiness, emotions and, mostly, LOVE for TAP. Thank you thank you thank you Tap in Rio

Tap in Rio is an event which aggregates, educates and allows people to share information. Highlighting Brazilian professionals, it always attains its goal of gathering tap dance from the different reaches of Brazil to one place, Rio de Janeiro.

Tap in Rio is an undertaking of unconditional love for tap dance. Brought about with quality and professionalism, it offers, through its many classes, an informal environment where the genuine “Brazilian way of tap” breathes freely.

This one is hard….!!
This is an event that each year reduces the gaps between understandings of tap language in Brazil, once that it brings together experiences, exchanges, knowledge and many dreams ! I feel honored to have shared some of my tap dancing with the event. I leave Tap in Rio with a backpack full of novelties and experiences which shifted where I am and magnified my view of the world. Congratulations Steven and Adriana for a brilliant initiative, undertaken with that care which the field of “Education” requires. Long live Tap in Rio
